Designing Cartoon Characters for Kids and Adults

Do you love to write and draw your own stories? Everyone has a story to share with the world. The art of cartooning holds endless possibilities for developing your own style of drawing and storytelling. This workshop for kids (8+) will demonstrate the fundamental tools and techniques used by professional cartoonists to create comic stories. Taught by Enoch Davis (designer, animator, and Otis instructor), students will complete a cartoon character of their own design that is ready to be featured in their own comic stories.

Artist In The Kitchen: Volcano Salsa with Constance Hockaday

Flexibility and improvisation are the hallmarks of many brilliant artists and all brilliant chefs! Students will virtually join Chilean-American visual artist Constance Hockaday in her kitchen as she prepares her famous Volcano Salsa while discussing her philosophy on cooking and how it overlaps with her approach to making. Moderated by Otis faculty member Zachary Leener, students will gain insights into a professional artist’s creative practice.
