Dear LMS Community:
These are difficult and momentous days for our country and our community. Many of us have watched images of the events that are unfolding around us with a combination of outrage and hope, and our middle schoolers are similarly struggling with what is happening in our world today. And, of course, we are in the midst of a pandemic, which has touched every aspect of our children’s lives for the past three months. It is a difficult time.
I write to remind you that your Lincoln Middle School PTSA is an ally of children and families. Our mission is to promote the physical, mental and social welfare of all of our precious children. One of the rays of hope during these dark days shines from the amazing high school and college students in this city, who have taken to the streets and to social media to call for racial justice and an end to police brutality and to spread the messages of hope and love. America may be in crisis, but in their courageous approach to this difficult time, our young people provide some much-needed light in the darkness.
It has been an honor to contribute in some small way to this wonderful school community during the past year – to work with caring parents, a fabulous administration and dedicated teachers, and to support our Lincoln families. As the mom of not just a rising eighth grade Lincoln Lion, but also two college kids who are alum of our fabulous middle school, I can tell you that Lincoln prepares our children well to take on the challenges of high school, college and life with tolerance, kindness and courage, and with a passion to right the wrongs in their communities.
If you need assistance during these difficult days, the LMS PTSA is here to support you. Please reach out to lmsptsapresident1501@gmail.com.
The PTSA is wishing all of our families peace, safety, health and rejuvenation during the summer months.
Sending love to all,
Rebecca Walker
LMS PTSA President 2019-2020
