SMMUSD has spent the past months analyzing the state’s expectations, LA County Department of Public Health safety protocols, the district’s staffing
and fiscal situation, what neighboring districts are doing, and talking to parents and teachers as part of the school reopening planning process.
SMMUSD staff has now drafted two options for reopening that address the safety protocols and support the social-emotional needs of students.
These two models and safety protocols for reopening will be discussed with the community in various meetings throughout the month of October. The district is seeking the community’s input before the school board makes a final decision at a special board meeting on November 12.
You’re invited to the discussions at a virtual town hall meeting at 6pm on Wednesday, October 21st. This meeting will have a secondary school focus. There is a further meeting at 6pm on Monday, October 26th that will have an elementary focus.
