Feel free to register and attend one of our upcoming trainings!
May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month – a celebration and recognition of the culture, achievements, and influence AAPIs have created in the United States. May was chosen to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States in May of 1843.
Although AAPIs have been in the US since 1843, Anti-Asian/American and xenophobic harassment continues to rise across the US. What better way to take action and show your support to the AAPI community than to join one of the free virtual workshops co-sponsored by Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California and Right To Be?
This one-hour, interactive training will teach you Right To Be’s 5Ds of bystander intervention methodology and why this training is so important now. We’ll show you the positive impact that bystander intervention has on individuals and communities. We’ll talk through five strategies for safe intervention: distract, delegate, document, delay and direct, and practice using the 5Ds as well.
With AJSOCAL’s training, you’ll also learn how our organization and our partner LA vs. Hate can provide help and resources to both bystanders and survivors of hate incidents. We look forward to having you join the amazing cadre of over 150,000 community members trained by our national affiliation!
For our Virtual Korean Bystander Intervention Training that is happening on 5/30/23 @ 3:00pm, attendees have a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card!
