The LMS Food Pantry program is designed to fight hunger and food insecurity in our community.
The Food Pantry program is managed by Lincoln’s Community Liaison to ensure confidentiality. When we are on campus, breakfast, lunch and healthy snack items are available during the school week for students on a day to day basis. In addition, students and families can request a weekend backpack containing enough food to feed one middle school student Friday night through Monday morning. These backpacks include a variety of items, such as soups, oatmeal, beans, and pasta, to provide needed sustenance over the weekend.
Students in need
The program is available to anyone with no questions asked. Students in need should enroll in the Food Pantry program with LMS Community Liaison, Marlene Ramos, at m.ramos@smmusd.org. Ms. Ramos works with PTSA volunteers to ensure enough supplies are available. Student volunteers assist with inventory, tracking and packing of weekend backpacks.
Donate!
In 2020-21 we had the generous support of Robbie Sikora in sponsoring the Food Panty program in full. Thank you, Robbie! Usually, however, the program is funded mostly through the PTSA General Fund. By simply joining the PTSA as a member or making a donation to Lincoln’s Annual Giving fund, you are helping us make an impact against childhood hunger.
Get involved!
Volunteers help to source and deliver food items to LMS, as well as help to look for partnerships and grant funding to ensure all PTSA donations are maximized. If you would like to help, please contact Committee Chair Deb Novak. To contact Deb, or to find out more about the Food Pantry, please reach out to PTSA President, Teague Weybright.
