Parents, Lincoln needs your participation as a member of Lincoln’s English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC).
What is ELAC?
ELAC is a committee of parents/guardians, staff, and community members. The Lincoln ELAC provides guidance and advice to the Principal and staff about the needs of students who are learning English as a second language. ELAC helps to develop school-wide needs assessments, helps to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance, and helps to make recommendations to the School Site Council regarding plans for English learners.
Who can join?
All Lincoln community members are welcome to join the Lincoln ELAC and to attend the ELAC meetings. Elections for membership and officers take place in September/October. ELAC meetings are held at least 4 times a year, usually on Thursday mornings. Meeting dates are posted on the school website at the beginning of the school year.
For more information on Lincoln ELAC and/or membership, please contact Vy Andrew, Assistant Principal, vandrew@smmusd.org, or Nallely Gutierrez, Bilingual Community Liaison, n.gutierrez@smmusd.org.
