Happy Summer Lincoln Families!
What a year. It feels like we just got started “in” school, and it’s already over. Getting students back on campus took much longer than we all thought, but it happened, and our 8th Graders were able to go out with a super on-campus commencement as we return to somewhat of a normal. Our lives certainly became much busier with activities and programs opening up.
A huge THANK YOU goes to LMS Staff, for their dedication this entire year. They’ve handled Distance Learning, small-group on-campus activities, and eventually returning to classrooms while teaching live/zoom at the same time to keep the classes whole. Of course, it wasn’t ideal for everyone, and teachers and staff didn’t consider it ideal either. But as a community we kept each other safe and sane, and that’s what matters.
Throughout the year, our PTSA, through donations of funds, time and materials, continued to support all students at LMS by helping with online subscriptions, supplemental classroom and counseling department supplies, Drama Program scholarships, keeping computers repaired, providing weekly updates and opportunities through the Lincoln List, and supporting after-school programs (even on Zoom). The list could just keep going.
The tireless and unseen work of our PTSA Executive Board, Chairs and Liaisons that helped keep our families engaged. As the PTSA President, it’s my role to serve as a representative, sharing concerns, encouragement and comments with LMS Staff, SMMUSD Staff and the SMM PTA Council. What a pleasure it’s been seeing the massive amount of work that goes into the school year, both from our staff and volunteer efforts.
Thank you to all of those who volunteered this year. It’s a bittersweet time as we say goodbye to a number of 8th Grade families who won’t be returning to LMS. On the flip side, we have a good number of new parents joining our PTSA Executive Board for next year and we’re all eager to get back to the on-campus events we’re used to.
The new year will come up quick, and before you know it, we’ll be seeing each for Get Your Stuff Day and the Back to School Picnic, and we’ll be gearing up for Movie Nights at LMS along with the National Reflections Art Program which takes place early fall. If you think you’d like to join one of our PTSA Teams next year and help with something, please let us know.
Congratulations again to the 8th Grade Families that are moving on, and we look forward to seeing everyone in August!
