What? There are other ways for my kids to get to Lincoln instead of dropping them off by car?
Yes!
We’re lucky to live in a neighborhood and city that makes walking, biking, skateboarding and scootering pleasant and fun. Our kids get exercise and we help to keep the streets around Lincoln safer.
Why not encourage healthy habits early in life by encouraging your kids to walk or bike to school? Lincoln has racks available for students to store scooters, skateboards, and bikes.
See this City of Santa Monica flyer on How to Walk, Scoot & Bike While Social Distancing.
To learn more about the positive effects of walking and biking to school, check out the Safe Routes to School website.
Walking & Biking Routes
The City of Santa Monica supports walking and biking to school through a network of bike paths and good sidewalks. Download a map of routes around Lincoln Middle School.
The City of Santa Monica and the Police Department have published an informative brochure called Smart Cycling in Santa Monica, featuring safety tips and rules of the road for cyclists.

Bike It! Walk It!
Twice a year (fall and spring) Lincoln participates in a district-wide initiative called Bike It! Walk It!. You’ll hear more about these events as they happen. Please encourage your child to contribute to community spirit by participating.
Our Bike It! Walk It! committee needs help with planning and also on the day of the event, counting participants and handing out goodies to students who take part. We’d love your help.
Please contact Committee Chair, Stephan Corbel, for more information.
Still need to drive?
For those who are tied to vehicle drop-offs, please consider carpooling or checking out local city buses.
And please, please help to keep people safe:
- Don’t double park
- Don’t block or drop off on pedestrian crossings
- Pay extra attention near the crossings and follow instructions given by our crossing guards.
Thanks for your support!
