The PTSA is 100% a volunteer organization. Together, PTSA volunteers dedicate hundreds of hours each month supporting Lincoln students. We’d love to have you join us.

Stop Drop and Go
We are seeking adult volunteers for the “Stop, Drop and Go” program. We would appreciate your help 30 minutes, once a week, at the Stop, Drop and Go Zone on California Avenue. It’s a short period of time but the BIGGEST contribution you can make towards the safety of our students. If you can help a day here and there, please take a moment to sign up here.
Our goal is to have a daily coordinator with another 1-2 rotating volunteers per day. Thank you to our current daily coordinators: Mark Berman, Jeff Brea and Jenn Ornelas. We are still seeking three more daily coordinators. Please email our 4th VP, Jenn Ornelas, for more information.
8th Grade Activities
Help make the 8th Grade year extra special for our graduating students!
The 8th Grade year has lots of great activities and opportunities and we need your help to make it all happen. Activities include:

Bike It! Walk It!
Help encourage students to walk, bike, scooter, skateboard, catch the bus! The Bike It! Walk It! Committee helps raise awareness about the benefits of using transport other than cars to get to Lincoln and around town.
Get involved as a parent volunteer on Bike It! Walk It! days. They happen twice a year (fall and spring). Lincoln students participate in this district-wide initiative by getting to school other than by car!

Copy Corps
Help provide a valuable service to our teachers and get a peek behind the scenes at Lincoln!
The Copy Corps is a group of Lincoln parents who pop into the copy room one day a week to complete photocopy requests for our busy Lincoln teachers. This valuable service allows our teachers to spend more time meeting with students or possibly taking a real lunch break! Sixth grade parents are strongly encouraged to join the Copy Corps team. Don’t worry, we’ll train you on how to use the machines!

Core Parent Liaisons
Help teachers organize a couple of grade-level events each year for the students, meet other parents and help the kids have a great year! Find out more about Lincoln‘s Cores.
Did you know that you can donate to your student’s Core fund to help pay for Core events? You may donate up to a maximum of $25. Donations are voluntary and any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support! Donate.

Lincoln Theatre Program
Help put on Lincoln’s Theatre Program production! There’s a LOT for parent volunteers to do from helping at rehearsals, with costumes, props, set design, and make-up, to selling tickets and refreshments and ushering on performance nights. Emergency Preparedness
Help keep our kids safe! The Emergency Preparedness committee supports the Great National Shake Out and we ensure that Lincoln has appropriate supplies should an emergency occur.

ELAC
ELAC is the English Learner Advisory Council and is a committee of parents/guardians, staff, and community members.
ELAC provides guidance and advice to Lincoln’s principal and staff about the needs of students who are learning English as a second language.
ELAC helps to develop school-wide needs assessments, helps make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance, and make recommendations to Lincoln’s School Site Council regarding plans for English learners.
If you have a student who is an English learner, please join this group to get involved. Please note that ALL Lincoln community members are welcome to join ELAC and to attend meetings.
Food Pantry
Help our students stay healthy! Our Food Pantry program is designed to fight hunger and food insecurity in our community. Sponsored by the PTSA and managed by Lincoln’s Community Liaison to ensure confidentiality, breakfast, lunch and healthy snacks are available during the school week and families are also able to request food for one student for the weekend (Friday night through Monday morning).
Food Pantry volunteers help to source and deliver food items to school, as well as help to look for partnerships and grant funding to ensure all PTSA donations are maximized.

Fun Run
Help plan the Lincoln Fun Run! The Fun Run is an annual tradition, getting students out for some fun and healthy exercise and at the same time raising funds for our PE department and for other PTA initiatives.
We have lots of FUN activities for students, as well as running laps.

Green Team
Help make Lincoln Green! The Green Team assists with Bike It! Walk It! events, helps support Lincoln’s the small edible garden, and works with the Principal to identify other areas for beautification. We’re working on making our PTSA Meetings Zero Waste and we welcome other ideas.
Green Team members meet a few times a year with Lincoln staff to plan activities and events.

Hospitality
Help organize events for Lincoln staff and parents throughout the year. We would love your help organizing one or more of the following events:

- Coffee with the Principal (5/5 per year)
- Holiday Lunch (December)
- HSA Breakfast (April)
- Staff Appreciation Lunch (May/June)
- Refreshments for School Tours (various dates throughout the year)

Legislation
Help get the word out to Lincoln parents about legislative issues that impact our kids.
With so many special interests spending millions to lobby elected officials, our children depend on us as PTSA members to make sure their voices are not forgotten. The Legislation Committee does important work that ensures our kids have a voice in state politics in Sacramento.

Parent Eyes
Help staff oversee lunch at Lincoln. Be a positive presence for our students!
Parent Eyes volunteers play an important role in keeping our campus safe and clean. Catch kids being helpful, respectful, responsible, fair and caring, and generally being good citizens. Help the kids make good choices in their actions, picking up their trash, being good friends etc.
Help is most needed on Fridays when 6th, 7th and 8th grades all eat lunch at the same time. But volunteers are welcome any day at lunch recess.
You don’t need to commit to every week. Just volunteer when you can!
Important: To be a Parent Eyes volunteer you need to be approved as a Level 1 volunteer. Even if you have been approved at any school in our district in the past 4 years you will need to fill out the forms for Lincoln, hand them into the office, then have a quick check in with the Lincoln nurse. Reflections
Help students get creative!
The National PTA Art Competition, Reflections, happens every fall. Students can create art in 6 categories: Photography, Dance Choreography, Writing, Fine Art, Music Composition, and Filmmaking! There’s a category for neurodiverse students as well.
Reflections encourages students to:
- Unleash their creative talents and be inspired
- Express themselves imaginatively through artwork
- Experience the fun and joy of making art
- Tap into critical-thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
- Receive positive recognition for original works of art.

Restaurant Nights
Help raise funds for Lincoln students by organizing restaurant give-backs throughout the year. We have some great relationships with local restaurants, who in past years have very kindly donated a percentage of their proceeds on a given day to support Lincoln. We’re always looking for new local restaurants to participate in the give-back program.
The give-back program is a great way for the Lincoln community to support local businesses too! Check out the restaurant give-back page for details of past participants.

School Site Council
The School Site Council (SSC) is a shared decision-making body. Its 16 members include Principal Jose Cuevas, 6 teachers, 1 classified staff member, and 8 parents. The SSC’s mission is to review Lincoln’s academic and cultural plan and advise as to how school monies should be spent.
Elections are held at the beginning of each school year for new parent representatives.
Being an SSC representative is a fantastic opportunity to be involved with high-level vision and planning for the school as well as to get to know the principal and staff.
The SSC meets 1 Wednesday a month at LMS after school from 3:20pm – 4:50pm. Everyone is welcome to attend SSC meetings.

Lincoln Parent Support For Learning Differences
The Lincoln Parent Support For Learning Differences is a valuable resource for parents of students with 504-plans and Individual Education Plans. The Lincoln Parent Support For Learning Differences is a collaboration between parent volunteers and the staff at Lincoln. Together, they work to identify and assess the changing needs of Special Education and 504-plan students and their families as members of our school community.
For the 2023-24 school year, we plan to:
- Have representatives of the Lincoln Parent Support For Learning Differences at school events.
- Meet regularly to foster communication between parents and the Lincoln Special Education Department.
- Continue to build a welcoming network of parents, teachers, and administrators.

Student Store
Volunteering at the Student Store is the best kept secret – it’s one of the most fun ways of volunteering!
The store is open for the students during lunch recess. Sign up here to volunteer.
Our ‘Mini Staples’ has most of the school supplies needed, P.E. uniforms and SpiritWear. There are some fun (gadgets/toys) supplies as well. It’s so much fun to watch our independent students come to the Student Store. It’s a great way to support Lincoln AND get to know Lincoln students.

School Tours
Help show prospective Lincoln parents around the school! School Tours happen after morning drop-off on select Thursdays throughout the year.
Get to know other parents and share what you know about the school. Don’t worry, all tour groups are led by a Lincoln staff member! Volunteers are there to support and answer questions from a parent’s perspective.
